Why it is important to write a will

A will is the only way to make sure your money, property, possessions and investments go to the people and causes you care about.

It is important for you to make a will whether or not you consider you have many possessions or much money. Over 60% of people in the UK do not have a will.

If you die without a will, there are certain rules which dictate how the money, property or possessions should be allocated. This may not be what you originally wanted. It especially effects unmarried partners. This creates serious financial difficulties.

If your circumstances have changed, it is important that you make a will to ensure that your money and possessions are distributed as you wish.

We are here to help avoid these problems.

Why it is important to make a Lasting Power of Attorney

A power of attorney is a legal document that allows someone to make decisions for you, or act on your behalf, if you are no longer able to or if you no longer want to make your own decisions.

There are a number of reasons why you might need someone to make decisions for you or act on your behalf. This could just be a temporary situation: for example, if you're in hospital and need help with everyday tasks such as paying bills.

You may need to make longer-term plans if, for example, you have been diagnosed with dementia and you may lose the mental capacity to make your own decisions in the future.

If any of the situations above happen, and you do not have a Lasting power of Attorney, it will be difficult for your family to access your money and make health decisions for you.
